Biography

Born in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, Sarah Duston was a world traveller before the age of 6. From London to Paris, from Moscow to Rome, she eventually rounded out the eclectic merry-go-round of her travels by landing in Las Vegas, Nevada, where she began to write short stories. It wasn't long before some of the most fascinating characters demanded their own books, and Sarah was bribed and/or blackmailed into giving in to their demands.
Part of what makes Sarah's characters so fascinating are their layers. There is no completely good person in her universe. We are left with the unsettling realization that, had circumstances been different in the smallest way, good and evil in the story would have switched places completely. In another twist, these grave battles are not only being fought...they are being fought by children. And, nine times out of ten, they are hysterically funny.
Manned by a cast of lushly-developed characters that will either win your heart or disgust you - or best of all, both - Sarah Duston's teen fiction will leave you smiling and thinking long after the last page is turned.
And her picture books are just gosh darn adorable.
She currently lives in New York and enjoys playing along when people mistake her for "whatzername, that one girl from the Kevin Spacey movie." She also moonlights as a story lady on weekends and does all the voices. She loves new and old friends, antique books, cupcakes, Mervyn Peake, animals, and modern art. But not the dumb kind.
